Repair Cafe Wales is one of the fastest growing community interest companies in Wales and have an energetic and ambitious board who are keen to make sure everyone has access to a repair event. Repair cafes are now opening up all over the country, did you know that we have 27 events running across the UK under the Repair Café Wales banner?!

It’s great to see the movement grow like this, and all because of the work our volunteers put in, organising events each month; where handy helpers give their time to fix things free of charge for the people in our communities.

Volunteer Recruitment

It’s an exciting time to be involved with the organisation but, as we grow, we need more help, more resources, more expertise. We’d welcome interest from anyone who would like to get more involved with the organisational aspects of the Repair Café movement?

Skills Required

Do you have 3-4 hours per week free to help Repair Cafe Wales? We would like to build a team to help us meet operational demands. Can anyone put their hands up to help with any of the following roles:

Brand marketeer*: To build and implement our marketing plan

Finance officer*: A Chartered Accountant to collate, to sign off and submit our accounts once a year

Community Connector: To make sure our local event organisers are linked in with local community leaders

Digital manager*: To help implement our digital processes – working with our Data Insight lead

Social Media(tor)*: To create and share social media content

Legal Eagle*: To advise us on governance and all things legal

External engagement Coordinator: To liaise and meet with external organisations; brokering collaborations

and helping manage our presence in the localities where events are held.

You will be a nice person with a lot of enthusiasm/energy and good communication skills. Roles with an * require expertise and so will need someone with experience/qualifications in that line of work.

If this sounds like you then email details indicating which role you’d like to help with in the subject bar, and your experience and we’ll arrange a cuppa or call to discuss.

Volunteering Benefits

Fun and fulfillment!

You’ll be working with a group of bright, energetic directors focused on encouraging and supporting behavioural change around waste reduction; sharing skills and community cohesion.

We’ll make you feel valued in your contribution to the growth of repair cafes – environments that help to build connections, remove barriers to participation and support more local areas to become sustainable.

Our board has representation across the age groups, so you’ll find new friends among like-minded people.

For young adults some roles provide an opportunity to practice important skills used in the workplace, such as teamwork, communication, problem solving, project planning, task management, and organisation.
