Fix It February: A Month of Repair, Not Replace!

This February, we’re excited to launch our first Fix It February, a month-long campaign to inspire people across Wales (and beyond!) to repair one broken item instead of replacing it. Whether it’s a faulty toaster, a ripped pair of jeans, or a wobbly chair, Fix It Feb is all about using the power of repair to help the planet, save money, and create connections through skill sharing. We are hoping to Repair 1,000 items this February and we need your help!

Did you know?

In 2024, Wales Repair Cafes fixed over 10,000 items, saving 233,497kg of carbon emissions—the equivalent of driving 1,037,085 miles.

Why Repair?

Fixing things not only reduces waste but also helps keep cherished items out of landfill and in use for longer. It’s a win for the environment, your wallet, and the sense of pride that comes with giving new life to something old.

Repair Cafes in Wales provide a space for volunteers and communities to come together and help fix a wide variety of items. These free sessions make repair accessible, fun, and rewarding.

What can you do this Fix It February?

  1. Visit a Repair Cafe
Find your local Repair Cafe on our website and bring along an item you’d like to fix. Our friendly volunteers will be there to help with advice, tools, and hands-on repairs.
  2. Pledge to repair one item
This month, take the pledge to fix one item instead of replacing it. Whether it’s patching up your jeans, fixing a broken zip, or repairing your bike! Pledge Here!
  3. Share your repair story
Have you repaired something that means a lot to you? Share your story and inspire others to join the repair movement. Post on social media with a picture or video of your repair, and don’t forget to tag Repair Cafe Wales and use #FixItFeb
  4. Encourage friends and family to join
Share the campaign with your network and challenge them to repair something during February. Together, we can spread the repair message.

How Repair Cafes are making a difference

In 2024, Repair Cafe Wales helped fix thousands of items across the country, preventing waste and connecting communities. Every item repaired is one less item in landfill and one step closer to a circular economy. Repair Cafes also save people money, helping households make the most of what they already own instead of buying new.
