We have some pretty amazing people in the Repair Cafe Wales Family

As part of a new initiative we will be running a series on getting to know our volunteers. We’ve set a series of questions and our amazing volunteers have answered them ‘virtually’ for us.

Next up in the series is Rolly from Presteigne

Q: What is your name, which repair café location do you volunteer at and what’s your role / skill?

A: Rolly Bea, Presteigne, Co-host.

Polly Presteigne

Q: Why did you decide to volunteer with Repair Cafe Wales?

A: Myself & a talented ‘crafty’ friend started our monthly events in Sept 2019. It grew out of our make do & mend mindsets, something we knew the local community, already very aware, into repair, reuse, recycle etc would take to & support

Q: What does a repair café mean to you?

A: It feels like an essential thread in the network of individuals, & other relevant groups, with a wealth of talent & skills available, all working towards more resilience & sustainability, which now & in the future will be invaluable.

Q: What do you enjoy most about a  repair café?

A: Doing the groundwork, finding a venue, fixers etc has been my main role.

The events have been fun, noted for being welcoming & useful. For me it’s about community, interactions, & sharing, as well as the satisfaction of a repair done, & less to landfill.
