With a new government in place, we’re ready to pick up the campaign for a UK right to repair!

At Repair Cafe Wales, we believe in the power of repair and reuse to transform our society and environment. Recently, we joined forces with over 300 organisations in a joint letter to the Prime Minister, urging the UK government to adopt policies that support a circular economy.

The UK is the second-largest producer of electronic waste per capita. By prioritizing repair and reuse, we can significantly reduce our environmental impact, create skilled green jobs, and lower living costs for households. Key policy recommendations include making repairs more affordable, introducing comprehensive right to repair regulations, and investing in repair training and accreditation.

We’re excited to see such widespread support for these initiatives, with 79-85% of the British public backing these measures. As we gear up for Repair Day on October 19, 2024, we invite everyone to join us in advocating for a sustainable future where repair and reuse are the norms.

You can also get involved by sending your newly elected local MP a congratulations card that you can print out, sign and post to your (new) MP now inviting them to your October event. MPs are being bombarded by emails, so we think a physical card would be a nice way to stand out. But there is also a digital version you can download and edit if you prefer email.

Find the printable version of the card here  |  Find the digital version here

You can find your MP’s contact details here.

Together, let’s make a difference!
